The Ukrainian government confirmed on February 13 that no direct talks with Russia are planned during today’s Munich Security Conference.

According to Dmytro Lytvyn, an dvisor to the President Zelenskyy, Ukraine maintains that any future discussions with Russia must first involve coordination with the United States and European partners.

“Ukraine must first talk to America. Europe must be part of any serious conversation to ensure a real and lasting peace. Only a unified position should be on the table when engaging with Russia,” Lytvyn stated.

He further noted that currently, there is no established framework for negotiations.

“There will be no empty-table discussions with Russia. Right now, there is nothing on the table. Therefore, no talks with Russians are expected in Munich,” he added.

Previously, US President Donald Trump assured that Ukraine will be part of upcoming negotiations aimed at ending the war, while also advocating for Russia’s reinstatement in the G7. He also confirmed that a high-level meeting involving representatives from Russia, Ukraine, and the United States is set to take place in Munich on February 14.
