Russian Drone Strike Injures At Least Nine People in Kharkiv, Hits Maternity Hospital

A Russian drone strike injured at least nine people in central Kharkiv, damaging residential buildings and a maternity hospital, according to Mayor Ihor Terekhov on July 11.
“The morning explosions affected a maternity hospital where mothers and newborns were present,” Terekhov stated. No one at the facility was harmed. The mayor confirmed that all patients, including mothers and infants, were being evacuated to another medical center as a precaution.

The strike hit the city’s Saltivskyi district, with local reports indicating that a Shahed-type loitering munition—an Iranian-made drone widely used by Russian forces—struck a three-story residential building and a nearby courtyard. Emergency services responded to a fire that broke out following the impact.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy responded to the attack. “Russian strikes on our people. Yet another atrocity. In Kharkiv, nine people were injured as a result of a drone attack,” he wrote.
“Among the wounded are women in a maternity hospital – mothers with newborns, women recovering from surgery. Fortunately, no children were injured. Russia is targeting life itself – even in the very places where it begins,” he added.

Elsewhere in the Kharkiv region, the town of Chuhuiv was also hit by Russian Shahed drones overnight. According to Mayor Halyna Minayeva, the strike occurred around 1:00 a.m. and caused significant destruction.
“Shortly after 1:00 a.m., the enemy struck Chuhuiv again,” Minayeva said. “Two private homes in the town center were destroyed, and surrounding houses sustained major damage.”
The central hospital in Chuhuiv also suffered heavy structural damage in the attack, she noted. “Three people were injured and are receiving medical assistance,” Minayeva confirmed.
In another residential district of Chuhuiv, additional Shahed drone strikes damaged several private homes, but no casualties were reported. Emergency response teams remain on site.
Earlier, A Russian drone strike killed a one-year-old boy in the village of Pravdyne, Kherson region.
