Kyiv Endures Second Russian Airstrike This Week—Exclusive Photos Show Aftermath, Casualties Rise

The Russian military launched Shahed drones and ballistic missiles at the capital of Ukraine. The exact number of aerial weapons is still being verified, but in previous attacks, reports have cited over 500 drones alone.
Kyiv suffered a deadly overnight airstrike as Russian forces launched a large-scale combined drone and missile attack on the Ukrainian capital and surrounding region, killing two people and injuring 19 as a result of the attack, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported on July 10.
“Two people have been killed and 16 injured as a result of the attack,” he said.
UPD. As of 12:37 p.m., the number of people injured as a result of a combined Russian drone and missile strike on Kyiv on July 10 increased to 19 people, including a teenage girl, reported head of the Kyiv city Military Administration Tymyr Tkachenko.
UPD2. As of 1:50 p.m., Tkachenko reported that the number of injured increased to 22.
UPD3. As of 9:15 pm., "In the evening, another man sought medical help after being injured in the latest enemy attack, bringing the total number of wounded to 26,” Tkachenko said.

“Ten victims were hospitalized, while the others received treatment on-site or were treated as outpatients.”
One of the victims was identified as a 68-year-old resident of the capital. The other was a 22-year-old police corporal serving with the Kyiv Metro Police. Both were killed in the city’s Podil district.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia launched multiple Shahed drones and missiles overnight, striking residential and civilian infrastructure across Kyiv and the broader region.
The overnight barrage triggered multiple fires, causing extensive damage. Residential buildings, cars, warehouses, office spaces, and other non-residential structures were affected.

In the Shevchenkivskyi district, a fire broke out on the upper floors of a residential building after falling debris caused a spark. In the Darnytskyi district, debris from downed UAVs ignited fires in a garage and at a gas station.
Klitschko reported that an outpatient clinic—Primary Health Care Center No. 1 in Podil—was almost destroyed.
Emergency crews responded with over 400 personnel and 90 units of firefighting, engineering, and robotic equipment. Pyrotechnic teams and climbers were also deployed to deal with the aftermath.
Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko later confirmed that critical infrastructure was damaged in at least eight districts of Kyiv, including residential, medical, educational, commercial, and transport facilities.
The surrounding Kyiv region was also hit. Four districts—Brovary, Boryspil, Obukhiv, and Vyshhorod—suffered damage. A 51-year-old man was wounded and hospitalized. Private homes, utility structures, garages, and vehicles were all reported damaged.
In response to the attack, authorities restricted traffic on several streets in Kyiv to facilitate emergency operations. These include sections of Volnovaska, Kozeletska, Sichovykh Striltsiv, Yurii Illienka, and Oleksa Tykhoho streets.

Earlier, Russia launched an unprecedented 741 aerial weapons against Ukraine overnight, marking the highest number of airborne threats ever recorded in 24 hours.
