Russian Drones Rock Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Odesa, Killing Two and Injuring Dozens

A wave of Russian drone strikes hit multiple Ukrainian cities on July 7, killing two people and injuring dozens. The attacks caused fires and destruction across Kharkiv and Odesa, including damage to residential buildings, schools, and transport infrastructure.

Russia launched a wave of suicide drone attacks on the Ukrainian cities of Odesa and Kharkiv, killing at least one person and injuring dozens more, including three children, according to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES) on July 7.

Ukrainian emergency services and local authorities confirmed widespread destruction in both urban centers.

UPD. As of 3:04 p.m., the Kherson region prosecutor’s office reported that a 34-year-old woman who was seriously injured in a Russian UAV attack on the Kholodnohirsky district of Kharkiv died in the hospital.

The number of people who were injured has increased to 34. Among the victims are two boys aged 7 and 17, and two girls aged 14 and 9. The children were diagnosed with an acute stress reaction.

UPD2. As of 4:26 p.m., Kharkiv city mayor Ihor Terekhov reported that the number of injured as a result of a Russian drone strike on the city increased to 71. There are 7 children among the victims.

A Russian drone strike on Odesa damaged multiple structures, including 10 garage units, an administrative building on the grounds of a vehicle service station, portable construction trailers, several cars, trucks, and a passenger bus.

One of the drones ignited a fire in a security booth near a new residential building. A security guard was killed in the blaze.

“Unfortunately, one guard was killed. My sincere condolences to his family and loved ones,” said Oleh Kiper, head of the Odesa Regional Military Administration.

Roughly around 5:30 a.m. local time, Russian Shahed-type drones struck multiple targets in Kharkiv, causing a fire in a nine-story residential building and damaging a kindergarten.

City Mayor Ihor Terekhov confirmed that two drones hit the city. The Shevchenkivskyi district was hit first, where a fire broke out in apartments on the eighth floor of the residential building. The blaze covered around 70 square meters and has since been contained.

Additional explosions were later reported in the Slobidskyi district, where drones struck a kindergarten and a commercial site. Fires broke out in an outbuilding and a car, affecting roughly 10 square meters.

Russia launched an attack on Ukraine using 101 strike drones and four missiles. Ukrainian air defense forces neutralized 75 drones: 58 were shot down, and 17 were suppressed by electronic warfare, according to the Air Defense Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The drone strikes in Kharkiv left 27 people injured, including three children.

Three individuals, one of them a child, were hospitalized with moderate injuries, and all are receiving medical treatment, local officials confirmed.

Earlier, a Russian attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure caused a complete blackout at the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.
