Russian Drone Strike Kills Three, Including Mother and Toddler in Deadly Attack on Odesa

A Russian overnight drone strike on the southern Ukrainian city of Odesa hit a residential high-rise, killing at least three civilians and injuring more than a dozen others, according to Serhii Lysak, head of the Odesa city military administration, on April 6.
The drone struck a multi-story apartment building, causing significant destruction between the third and fifth floors, according to regional authorities.

Among those killed were a 30-year-old woman and her two-year-old daughter, as well as a 53-year-old woman, officials said.
Oleh Kiper, governor of the Odesa region, added that 15 people were injured in the strike, 13 of them were hospitalized. Among the wounded are a pregnant woman and two young children—a seven-month-old boy and a two-year-old girl—as well as two teenagers aged 17 and 18.

Emergency responders said they managed to extinguish all fires despite repeated air raid alerts during rescue operations. Search and rescue efforts are ongoing, with concerns that additional victims may still be trapped under the rubble.
The strike caused widespread damage across multiple parts of the city. In the Prymorskyi district, a residential high-rise complex and seven private homes were damaged. Municipal crews are currently clearing debris and sealing broken windows.
In the Kyivskyi district, another apartment building sustained damage, along with five private homes, a private preschool, a store, and 27 vehicles.
Earlier, Russian forces launched a combined rocket and drone strike on residential areas and civilian infrastructure in the Zhytomyr region, resulting in significant damage and casualties.
One person has been killed, and five others have been rescued from the debris by emergency services.
