Russian Forces Intensify Assaults in Ukraine's Kupiansk Direction, National Guard Spokesman Reports
Over the past month, Russian forces have significantly increased their activity in the Kupiansk direction of the northeastern Kharkiv region, carrying out assaults using heavy and light armored vehicles.
This was reported by the National Guard spokesman Ruslan Muzychuk live on the nationwide telethon.
“There has been a certain activation in the Kupiansk direction over the last month. The enemy is trying to storm the positions of our forces, in particular, in the area of Synkivka and Stelmakhivka, there were quite active assault attempts even in recent days. The enemy is also concentrating its tank units and motorized rifle units here, trying to advance and storm our positions,” he said.
Muzychuk also reported that to the south, Russian troops has been trying to advance to the barrier line along the Black Stallion River for quite some time, in an attempt to keep the entire front line in tension nd trying to stretch the Defense Forces along the entire front line.
“In the Kharkiv direction, they [Russian forces] are trying to maintain their activity, constantly pulling units and reserves, in particular, to the northern border, where they are trying to probe the defenses. In particular, in the last few days, there has been a certain activation in the area of the settlement of Tykhe,” Muzychuk stated.
According to him, there has been no significant increase in the number of military clashes, but the activity of the Russian forces has not decreased. With this in mind, units of the Defense Forces are doing everything possible to stop them.
The spokesman noted that since the beginning of the intensification of Russia’s actions in the north of the Kharkiv region, their forces have not been able to achieve any notable successes.
"On this section of the front, the work carried out by our units, in particular since the activation of this section since May, made it possible to destroy such enemy [Russian] forces and even convoys of equipment," Ruslan Muzychuk said.
On May 10 Russia launched an offensive in the northern part of the Kharkiv region.
