Russian “Herbera” Drone Reportedly Crashes in Poland, Authorities Claim It Was “Not Military”

A drone identified as a Russian-made decoy system known as “Herbera” was found in eastern Poland, about 50 kilometers from the Ukrainian border.
The incident occurred near the village of Majdan-Sielec in Lublin Voivodeship, according to TVN24 on September 6.
Poland’s Ministry of National Defense initially described the device as lacking “military characteristics.” A spokesperson for the ministry suggested the drone could have been linked to smuggling activity, noting that border guards have previously recorded cases of contraband shipments by UAVs.
However, Ukrainian defense analysts cited by Militarnyi concluded that the wreckage matched the “Herbera” drone, a Russian decoy designed to overload air defense systems during mass strikes on Ukraine.

They pointed to specific technical features: pre-flight inspection markings labeled “2.09” with the Russian abbreviation “БГ”, a two-cylinder engine identical to those found on earlier crash sites in Ukraine, and distinctive structural elements.
Local police reported that the object was discovered by a farmer at 17:40 local time. No explosion or fire was observed, and no injuries were reported. The Military Gendarmerie has secured the site while Polish special services examine the remains.

During the September 6–7 overnight attack—the largest to date—monitoring groups recorded at least one Russian drone crossing from Volyn into Polish airspace, where it was tracked by Polish aviation before disappearing from radar.
Russia launched more than 800 drones against Ukraine during that attack. Decoy drones like the “Herbera” are used to exhaust Ukrainian and allied air defense systems, allowing strike drones and missiles to penetrate more effectively.
