Russian Spy Chief Claims NATO Countries Are Preparing for War, Accuses Europe of “Russophobia”

Russia’s foreign intelligence chief, Sergei Naryshkin, accused NATO-aligned European countries of openly preparing for war against Moscow, claiming that the bloc is rapidly mobilizing military resources and shaping public opinion to justify conflict, he said during a session of the Council of Security and Intelligence Heads from CIS countries on October 21.
Naryshkin, director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), said, “The task has been set to rapidly equip NATO’s designated Allied Response Forces with all necessary resources.”
According to Naryshkin, European nations have already launched a “multiple-fold increase in the production of military equipment” and are actively rehearsing mobilization procedures.

He also claimed that propaganda campaigns are being used to convince populations of “the inevitability of aggression from Moscow.”
Europe, he said, remains “unable to adapt to changing international realities” because it has long lived “under American occupation” since World War II.
In Naryshkin’s view, the only policies currently being offered to Europeans by leaders such as French President Emmanuel Macron, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo are “Russophobia and the accelerated buildup of European military potential aimed at a large-scale armed conflict with Russia.”

Previously, Naryshkin accused Western states of attempting to provoke “disintegration processes” within the CIS.
He said this includes “large-scale economic aggression,” disinformation campaigns, and destructive cyber operations. The SVR chief insisted that the goal of Western regimes and intelligence agencies is to “contain the development” of the CIS as “an independent and autonomous center of power.”
Earlier, Poland had warned that Russian leader Vladimir Putin could face arrest if his plane crossed Polish airspace en route to Hungary for a planned summit with US President Donald Trump.
