Russian Strike on Kyiv Kills Volunteer Family and Five Cats, Leaving One in Critical Condition

Russia’s attack on Kyiv on May 7 killed a volunteer family, a mother and son, and five cats in their apartment, according to Kyiv Animal Rescue Group.
Rescue workers found the bodies of two individuals at the scene. Additionally, five cats died in the explosion, while one survived, though it suffered severe burns. The surviving cat was found outside, likely thrown from the apartment by the blast.
The injured cat was rushed to a veterinary clinic and is currently in critical condition in an oxygen chamber, with severe burns and significant lung damage.
“Since there were 10 cats living in the apartment, our rescuers returned to the scene of the tragedy and continue their search,” the volunteer organization wrote.
On May 7, Russian forces launched a wave of ballistic and drone attacks on Kyiv and its suburbs, killing at least two people and injuring eight others, including four children.
