Russian Strikes Cause Power Blackouts in Multiple Regions of Ukraine

In the early hours of March 15, Russian forces launched a large-scale attack on energy infrastructure in Ukraine’s Odesa and Dnipropetrovsk regions, causing significant damage and leaving parts of both regions without electricity.
According to DTEK , the attacks targeted key energy facilities, resulting in power outages for residents in multiple areas. Emergency repair teams are already working on-site to restore electricity.
Regional authorities reported that the strikes in Dnipropetrovsk region affected Synelnykove, Pavlohrad, and Nikopol districts. Damage was recorded in energy and civilian infrastructure, with disruptions in water supply in several cities, including Synelnykove, Pavlohrad, Ternivka, and Pershotravensk. In Nikopol district, artillery, multiple launch rocket systems, and drones were used in the assault.
Ukraine’s air defense units intercepted and downed ten drones over Dnipropetrovsk region during the attack.
Ukrzaliznytsia confirmed that the railway’s energy infrastructure was also targeted. Backup diesel locomotives were deployed to ensure minimal disruptions to train schedules, and power to affected sections was restored by morning.
Officials stated that there were no casualties reported from the overnight strikes.
Efforts to restore power to affected areas are ongoing, with energy companies working to repair damage and resume normal operations as quickly as possible.
On the night of March 15, Russian forces launched two Iskander-M ballistic missiles from Kursk region and 178 drones, including Shahed-type attack UAVs and decoy drones, from multiple locations, including Oryol, Millerovo, Kursk, Bryansk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and temporarily occupied Crimea.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 130 Shahed drones and other UAVs. Air defense units operated across 14 regions, including Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytskyi, Kirovohrad, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Odesa, and Mykolaiv.
Earlier, on March 14, Russian forces carried out a double-tap strike on a hospital in Zolochiv, Kharkiv region, injuring one woman. The previous day, a drone attack in Kharkiv’s Osnovianskyi district damaged homes and left seven people injured, including four children. In the evening, Russian shelling in Kindrashivka wounded a 65-year-old man, who remains in serious condition.
