The intermediate-range ballistic missile “Oreshnik,” used by Russia in its recent attack on Dnipro, is based on the RS-26 “Rubezh” intercontinental ballistic missile, reported CNN, citing a comment of Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh on November 21.

During a briefing, Singh described the “Oreshnik” as “an experimental intermediate-range ballistic missile, based on Russia’s RS-26 Rubezh intercontinental ballistic missile model.”

Debris from the missile, discovered in Dnipro, sheds new light on the weapon’s design and origins.

“From the serial number visible on the first image, we can determine that similar components were used in the intercontinental ballistic missile R-30 ‘Bulava-30’ back in 2013,” journalist Mark Krutov noted.

This marks the first confirmed use of the “Oreshnik” missile, intensifying concerns over Russia’s evolving arsenal amid its ongoing aggression in Ukraine.

Earlier, Putin claimed that Russia had launched the latest ballistic hypersonic missile “Oreshnik” missile at Ukraine.
