Strike Drones Hit Key Russian Arms Facility Making Orion UAVs and S8000 Missiles

A swarm of strike drones targeted the Kronshtadt UAV production plant in the Moscow region city of Dubna, according to Astra on May 28.
Footage shows explosions hitting the facility, followed by gunfire from Russian troops attempting to shoot down the incoming drones.
One clip captures locals reacting after a direct hit on the building: “That’s the third one,” one voice says, referring to repeated drone strikes on the site.
The factory, operated by the Russian joint-stock company Kronshtadt, produces the Orion UAV—a long-range drone used by Russia in its war against Ukraine—as well as the recently introduced S8000 (Banderol) cruise missile.
Andrii Kovalenko, head of the Ukrainian Center for Countering Disinformation, confirmed the strike, stating that “The N.P. Fyodorov Dubna Machine-Building Plant (DMZ) is one of the key components of the Russian defense industry. The plant is located in Dubna, Moscow region, and has been part of the Kronstadt concern since 2020. The main profile is the production of combat UAVs, in particular the Orion complex (Russians call it an analog of Bayraktar). These drones are used by Russia against Ukraine. The company has deployed full-scale serial production, as well as design development of new versions of drones with advanced combat capabilities,” he wrote.

“DMZ also has composite processing workshops, modern avionics and control system assembly lines. The plant operates in a war economy mode, increasing production even under sanctions pressure,” he added.
The exterior of the struck building prominently features the company’s logo, a pair of large letters: “KT”.
According to its official website, the company has been developing proprietary engineering and information technologies in the drone sector for over 15 years.
The full extent of the damage from the latest attack is still being assessed.
Earlier, drones struck a Shahed drone production facility in Yelabuga, Tatarstan, and a chemical plant in Russia’s Ivanovo region overnight.
