Swedish Firm to Supply NATO-Grade TNT for Ukrainian-Designed Combat Drones

Scandinavian X, a Swedish company developing drones based on Ukrainian technology, has secured a supply deal for domestically produced TNT from explosives manufacturer SWEBAL Sweden Ballistics for its upcoming drone systems, and the partnership aims to strengthen Europe’s defense supply chain and increase regional self-sufficiency in critical materials, according to Defense Mirror on November 13.

Scandinavian X was launched by Front Ventures AB, Skygaard Defense Solutions and Hede Capital. It is designing drones that use Ukrainian know-how but are manufactured in Sweden with NATO-standard components, representing what Defense Mirror described as the first Swedish-Ukrainian drone collaboration in the Nordic region.

Earlier this year the company received an investment of about $3.3 million, backed by former Swedish Army Chief Major General Karl Engelbrektson and EQT co-founder Thomas von Koch, to support development of its drone production.

SWEBAL, founded in 2024, is building a TNT production facility in Nora that is expected to be completed in 2028 and become one of only a few European factories able to produce TNT to NATO standards.
