The JEDI Returns—This Time as a Ukraine-Made Drone Hunting Russian Shaheds

Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense has officially approved a new domestically produced unmanned aerial system designed to intercept and destroy Russian drones, the ministry announced on March 23.
The system, known as the JEDI Shahed Hunter, includes high-speed interceptor drones capable of engaging a range of aerial threats, including Shahed-type loitering munitions, as well as drones known as “Geran” and “Gerbera.”

According to the ministry, the system can also target reconnaissance UAVs such as Zala and Supercam.
The JEDI Shahed Hunter is a vertical takeoff quadcopter built with a lightweight yet durable airframe. It is powered by four high-performance electric motors and equipped with a high-capacity battery.
With a total weight of just over 4 kilograms, the drone can carry a payload of up to 500 grams—sufficient to neutralize enemy UAVs. Its propulsion system allows it to reach speeds exceeding 350 km/h and operate at altitudes of up to 6 kilometers.
❗️The Ministry of Defense of 🇺🇦Ukraine has approved for use a new Ukrainian interceptor drone capable of covering a section of the sky with a radius of up to 40 km.

The drone receives targeting data automatically from radar systems, enabling it to rapidly locate and engage incoming threats.
Flight control, communications, and targeting accuracy are managed via a ground station. The drone is capable of independently detecting, tracking, and engaging targets.
It is also equipped with both daylight and thermal imaging cameras, allowing for effective operations in both daytime and nighttime conditions.
Thanks to its technical capabilities, the system can monitor and defend airspace within a radius of up to 40 kilometers, offering a new layer of protection against drone activity.
Earlier, reports emerged that Germany would finance the production of 15,000 Ukrainian-made STRILA interceptor drones for units of Ukraine’s National Guard.
