The conversation between US President Donald Trump and Russian leader Vladimir Putin lasted more than two hours, Russian media reported on May 19.
Following the discussion, Putin held a press conference during which he stated that Russia is prepared to work on a memorandum with Ukraine that would include a ceasefire.
Prior to the Trump-Putin call, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke by phone with Trump, according to a source cited by the Ukrainian national telethon.
The source said Zelenskyy and Trump agreed to speak again after Trump’s discussion with Putin.
Trump had announced plans to speak with Putin on May 19, followed by separate calls with Zelenskyy and key NATO allies. The American side has not yet released any information regarding the outcome of the conversation.
