“Trump’s About to Put a Whooping on Your Ass”: Graham Warns Putin Over Sanctions

US Senator Lindsey Graham has introduced a new sanctions bill targeting countries that continue to purchase Russian oil, warning that failure to comply with US pressure will result in significant economic consequences. The statement came during an interview with Fox News on July 21.
According to Graham, the bill proposes a 100% tariff on oil imports from China, India, and Brazil—three countries that collectively account for up to 80% of Russia’s oil exports.
He emphasized that while Russia may endure sanctions, these nations would be forced to choose between continued trade with Moscow and access to the US economy.
“Putin may survive sanctions, but China, India, and Brazil will face a decision between helping Putin and maintaining economic ties with the United States,” Graham said.
Graham stated that the bill is intended to increase pressure on Russia’s key oil clients, which he described as contributing to the financing of Russia’s military operations.

He added that President Donald Trump is prepared to enforce these tariffs to disrupt the flow of revenue to the Kremlin.
The senator compared Russian leader Vladimir Putin to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, calling both authoritarian leaders with expansionist ambitions.
According to Graham, Putin seeks to restore the Soviet Union and exert control over neighboring states, which, he stressed, must be stopped through decisive measures.
“Putin, your turn is coming—Donald Trump is the Scottie Scheffler of American politics and foreign diplomacy, and he’s about to put a whooping on your ass,” Graham said.
He also emphasized that Trump is ready to impose harsh tariffs on countries that continue to support Russia’s energy sector. “This is what I would say to China, India, and Brazil: if you keep buying cheap Russian oil, we’ll hit you with massive tariffs and crush your economies,” the senator warned.
Graham concluded by urging Russian leadership to seek a diplomatic solution. “Trump is tired of this game,” he said. “If I were in Putin’s position, I’d come to the negotiating table sooner rather than later.”
Earlier, President Zelenskyy revealed in an interview with the New York Post that he and President Trump are discussing a “mega deal” under which the US would acquire Ukraine’s combat-tested drones, while Kyiv would purchase American weapons — a move he described as a “win-win” that could reshape both nations' defense capabilities.
