Türkiye has declared its willingness to send troops to Ukraine “if necessary” to help ensure peace and regional stability, the country’s Ministry of Defense stated, as reported by AFP on March 6.

“The issue of participation in the mission will be assessed with all relevant parties if it is deemed necessary for establishing regional stability and peace,” the statement read.

Ankara further asserted its crucial role in European security, emphasizing: “Following recent developments, it is impossible to ensure Europe’s security without our country.”

The ministry underscored Turkey’s position as a NATO and OSCE member, highlighting its advanced defense industry, pivotal role in conflict resolution, and powerful military.

According to a report by Milliyet on March 6, Turkey is actively considering sending its peacekeeping forces to Ukraine.

The publication cited sources within the Turkish Ministry of National Defense, stating that while no official framework for such a mission currently exists, discussions are ongoing.

“The issue of contributing to the mission—though it currently lacks a conceptual foundation—has been mentioned in various channels. It will be assessed jointly with all relevant parties if deemed necessary to establish regional stability and peace,” a defense source told Milliyet.

Earlier, Türkiye increased its efforts to assist in the reconstruction of Ukraine, with tenders for several projects scheduled for April and May 2025.

Representatives from the Turkish Embassy in Kyiv and the State Agency for Infrastructure Development and Renewal, operating under Ukraine’s Ministry of Community and Regional Development, recently discussed ongoing projects by Turkish companies in Ukraine and explored potential future cooperation.
