Two Ukrainian families with children have been successfully rescued from Russian-occupied territories as part of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Bring Kids Back UA initiative.

This was reported by the Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak on October 8.

One of the families had lived under occupation for more than four years. Their 15-year-old son, who suffers from a musculoskeletal disorder, was unable to receive proper medical treatment while in occupation. His younger sister, now eight years old, spent half her life surrounded by explosions and fear, Yermak wrote.

The second case involves an 18-year-old girl and her mother, who had lived for years under constant threat and danger. Despite several attempts to leave on their own, they were unable to do so until now.

Both families are now safely on Ukrainian-controlled territory where, for the first time in years, they feel secure and can begin rebuilding their lives.

In a separate case, as part of the same Bring Kids Back UA initiative, 17 Ukrainian children and teenagers were rescued from temporarily occupied territories.

Among them was a 17-year-old boy who was taken in the middle of the night by Russian soldiers and subjected to hours of interrogation at gunpoint—without his parents or legal representatives present. He was threatened and intimidated because of his pro-Ukrainian stance.

Earlier, during a Ukrainian Premier League match at Kyiv’s Valeriy Lobanovskyi Stadium, children rescued from Russian deportation and those freed from temporarily occupied territories took to the field alongside Dynamo Kyiv players.
