Ukrainian Children Rescued From Russian Occupation in Latest Bring Kids Back UA Operation

As part of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s Bring Kids Back UA initiative, another group of Ukrainian children and young people aged 3 to 18 has been successfully returned from Russia and the temporarily occupied territories, Head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office Andriy Yermak reported on September 2.
“For years, these children were forced to live under constant pressure and fear. The Russian occupiers imposed their system, compelling them to attend Russian schools, threatening families, and humiliating parents. Among those rescued is a mother with her two sons, who were deported to Russia and stripped of their Ukrainian documents,” Yermak stated.
He added that the family was left without the most basic means of survival—no money, no clothing, no food. Twice they attempted to make their way home on their own, and both times they failed. Only on their third attempt, with the assistance of partners of the initiative, were they finally able to escape and return to Ukraine.

Another child who was brought back to safety is living with a disability. For years, this child was forced to endure life in the occupied territory without access to necessary treatment or vital medications. Today, thanks to the operation, the child is reunited with their mother, safe on Ukrainian soil, and under the care of Ukrainian doctors.
Head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office expressed gratitude to the Ombudsman’s team and to all international partners whose support made this rescue possible.
Earlier, it was reported that two groups of Ukrainian children and young people were safely brought home from Russian-occupied territories. The initiative has been tirelessly working to reunite children with their families and shield them from the dangers and trauma caused by Russia’s ongoing war against Ukraine.
