Ukraine and Albania Sign 10-Year Agreement to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama signed a 10-year agreement on January 21, strengthening bilateral ties and cooperation between the two nations. Zelenskyy announced on the social media platform X and and on the official website of the President's Office.
The agreement outlines key areas of cooperation, including security and defense, political collaboration, humanitarian aid, joint crisis response, and provisions for its implementation.
Albania, which has provided military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, confirmed it would continue its support throughout the duration of the agreement. The country also pledged to contribute to the international coalition supporting Ukraine’s air defense, including fighter jets.
“Albania has supported Ukraine from the beginning of the invasion and will continue its assistance over the next decade. This includes military aid and participation in the fighter jet coalition,” Zelenskyy said.
The President thanked Albania for its ongoing support in strengthening Ukraine’s defense capabilities, supporting its European integration path, and contributing to efforts toward lasting peace.
On January 18, the Embassy of the Republic of Albania officially began its operations in Kyiv, marking the first new diplomatic mission to open in Ukraine since the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
