Ukraine and Japan Hold Key Meeting on Energy Infrastructure Restoration
On July 20, 2024, Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Oleksiy Kuleba, met with Ambassador Kuninori Matsuda of Japan in Ukraine.
A meeting on cooperation between regions and the restoration of energy infrastructure was held at the Office of the President with the Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine, Kuninori Matsuda.
Oleksiy Kuleba expressed gratitude to the Ambassador for Japan’s consistent support and stance.
“Currently, our partner country is engaged in the restoration of energy infrastructure destroyed by Russian shelling. It is crucial that the attention of our Japanese partners is focused on Kharkiv region, which faces daily shelling. The enemy systematically targets the critical infrastructure of the region. Together, we need to prepare for the heating season by pooling our efforts,” noted Oleksiy Kuleba.
Kuninori Matsuda condemned Russia’s attacks on civilian infrastructure, including the recent strike on the “Okhmatdyt” children’s hospital, and expressed solidarity and support for Ukraine.
During the meeting, they also discussed the decentralization reform in Ukraine.
The Ambassador emphasized the importance of cooperation between Ukrainian regions, cities, and communities with their Japanese counterparts for the restoration and reconstruction of our country. He also highlighted Ukraine’s successes during the Conference on Ukraine’s Reconstruction, Peace Summit, and the G7 and NATO summits.
Oleksiy Kuleba invited the Ambassador to participate in briefings held every two weeks with representatives of the Office of the President of Ukraine, the government, regional military administrations, local authorities, and diplomatic missions. These briefings will focus on promptly responding to community requests and coordinating with international partners.
