Ukraine and Romania Sign Bilateral Security Agreement
In Washington, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and President of Romania Klaus Iohannis signed an Agreement on Cooperation in the Security Sphere between Ukraine and Romania.
This was reported by President Zelenskyy.
Romania will transfer the Patriot system to Ukraine, supporting the country with the same intensity as during 2022-2024, and facilitating the rapid transit of all necessary equipment through its territory to Ukraine.
A distinctive feature of this agreement is its specific points of cooperation aimed at strengthening security in the Black Sea region. Romania will assist Ukraine in demining the Black Sea and provide support through EU and NATO instruments.
Official Bucharest, along with its partners, will also assist the F-16 training center in training Ukrainian pilots, thereby enhancing coalition capabilities in air force operations. Romania will support Ukraine’s defense industry.
Separate sections of the document address intelligence and counterintelligence, cybersecurity, information security, humanitarian demining, sanctions, and the recovery and reconstruction of Ukraine.
Additionally, the agreement includes a mechanism for a 24-hour emergency response in the event of renewed Russian aggression against our country or significant escalation.
Earlier on July 10, Ukraine has signed a bilateral security agreement with Luxembourg.
