On the night and morning of April 6, Russian forces launched coordinated missile and drone attacks against multiple regions of Ukraine.

The strikes caused structural damage and civilian injuries in Kyiv, Mykolaiv, and Kupiansk, while a drone strike in Sumy resulted in a large fire at a civilian enterprise. Emergency services continue to respond at all affected sites.

Kyiv: damage across three districts

According to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SES), ballistic missile strikes hit Darnytskyi, Obolonskyi, and Solomyanskyi districts of Kyiv. Fires broke out in non-residential buildings and were promptly extinguished.

  • In Darnytskyi, a building was damaged and three vehicles caught fire.

  • In Obolonskyi, a furniture workshop and an adjacent warehouse were set ablaze. A separate strike caused partial destruction of the upper floors of a five-story business center.

  • In Solomyanskyi, fires occurred on open grounds and on the facade of a warehouse facility.

Three people were injured in Kyiv, with two requiring hospitalization. Additionally, the body of a man was found near the epicenter of the explosion in the Darnytskyi district. According to Mayor Vitali Klitschko, the man was outdoors at the time of the strike. His identity is being established.

A total of 128 SES personnel and 27 fire and rescue vehicles were involved in the response.

Mykolaiv: drone strike on residential areas

Due to the high fire load, a tactical firefighting robot was deployed to extinguish flames in hard-to-reach and hazardous areas.

Preliminary reports indicate no casualties. Law enforcement and explosives experts are inspecting and documenting the site. A criminal case has been opened under Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (war crimes).

According to the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, various types of Russian aerial weapons—missiles and drones—were active in Ukrainian airspace overnight. Ukrainian cities continue to face regular attacks targeting residential and infrastructure sites.

Earlier, Russian forces carried out two consecutive attacks on Kryvyi Rih, first striking a residential area with a ballistic missile on April 4, followed by a drone strike overnight. The initial missile, reportedly an Iskander-M with a cluster warhead, killed 18 people—including nine children—and injured over 60.

The second wave, involving Shahed drones, killed one woman and injured several others, causing fires and damage to homes, transport infrastructure, and civilian property.
