Ukraine Confirms Russian Advances in Kursk Region, Pushing Toward Sudzha

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has confirmed significant Russian advances in the Kursk region.
This was reported by Babel on March 12, citing the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The advance of Russian forces was reflected in official maps released on March 10 and March 11.
“As of March 11, Russian troops have nearly reached Sudzha. Reports of intensified Russian offensives in the area have been circulating since early March,” Babel wrote. “It is likely that Russian forces are attempting to cut off a key Ukrainian military supply route, specifically the Sumy–Yunakivka–Sudzha road.”

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 33 combat actions took place on the Kursk front over the past day. Russian forces carried out 22 airstrikes, deployed 28 guided bombs, and conducted 280 artillery shelling attacks.

On March 11, Russian forces were attempting to breach the Ukrainian border near the settlements of Novenke and Zhuravka in the Sumy region, but their assault groups were neutralized by Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
Ukraine officially announced carrying out an operation in the Kursk region on August 12, 2024 as a preemptive measure to disrupt Russian plans to capture Kharkiv and Sumy regions.
