Ukraine May Lose Starlink Access After Polish President`s Veto, Deputy PM Warns

Polish Deputy Prime Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski sharply condemned President Karol Nawrocki’s decision to veto a law that would have extended assistance to Ukrainians fleeing Russia’s war, calling it a dangerous step that plays into Moscow’s hands.
Writing on X on August 25, Gawkowski said the president’s vetoes “strike blindly,” warning that this particular move effectively severs critical support channels for Ukraine.
“By this decision, Karol Nawrocki is cutting off Ukraine from the internet. De facto, this means ending Starlink services that Poland provides to a country fighting for survival. It also halts support for storing the Ukrainian administration’s data in a secure location,” he stressed.

The deputy prime minister warned that such a step amounts to a direct gift for Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Gawkowski said that he “cannot imagine a better present for the Kremlin’s army than disconnecting Ukraine from the internet.”
Gawkowski urged the president to abandon what he described as reckless political maneuvering.
“Mr. President, you must stop blindly striking at the government in the name of political struggle. You are harming people fighting for their independence—and helping Russia,” he concluded.
Earlier, it was reported that Ukraine is preparing to become one of the first countries worldwide to deploy SpaceX’s Starlink Direct to Cell technology, which will enable users to send text messages via satellite even in areas without mobile network coverage.
