Ukraine has extended an official offer of assistance to Israel as the country battles large-scale wildfires in the Judean Hills near Jerusalem. The announcement was made on April 30 by Minister of Foreign Affairs Andriy Sybiha via the social platform X.
"The Ukrainian government is ready to assist Israel in combating raging wildfires. We can send firefighting equipment, including a specialized plane, and our skilled rescuers," Sybiha stated.
He also noted that Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko has formally communicated Ukraine’s offer to the Israeli government.
“Even as we defend against aggression at home, we are ready to assist others in saving human lives,” the Minister emphasized.

The wildfires, which broke out on Wednesday, have spread rapidly across the Judean Hills region, prompting Israel to seek international assistance. Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar confirmed that discussions with several countries regarding aid are currently underway.
Earlier, The New York Times investigation has highlighted the devastating environmental toll of the war in Ukraine. Ukrainian prosecutors are currently investigating 247 cases of environmental damage, 14 of which have been classified as ecocide under Ukraine’s criminal code due to the widespread destruction of ecosystems. Officials estimate the total environmental losses to exceed $85 billion.
