Ukraine has received a $1.35 billion grant from the United States to support key humanitarian and social programs.

Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and the Ministry of Finance announced that the funds will be directed towards priority social and humanitarian needs in the state budget, including paying teachers’ salaries.

The grant, provided by the US government through the US Agency for International Development (USAID), was coordinated with the US Treasury Department and the State Department.

"Since February 2022, US direct budget support to Ukraine has reached $28.2 billion, the largest financial assistance Ukraine has received from any country," said Finance Minister Serhii Marchenko.

"This strong partnership with the US helps the Ukrainian government maintain financial stability and continue essential services like education and emergency response."

The Ministry of Finance noted that this year’s US budget support for Ukraine is set at $7.8 billion, with $5.2 billion already allocated.

Under the latest funding package from Congress, Ukraine has received 83% of critical ammunition, 67% of air defense systems, and 60% of firepower supplies.

It was previously reported that the Biden administration is set to fast-track the delivery of the remaining $6 billion in Ukraine security assistance by Inauguration Day, January 20, 2025, as the outgoing team braces for the likely halt of weapons support once newly elected President Donald Trump assumes office.
