Ukraine Receives Second Batch of F-16 Jets from Denmark
Ukraine has received the second batch of F-16 fighter jets provided by Denmark as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen its air defenses. The delivery marks another milestone in the cooperation between Ukraine and its Western partners.
According to a statement by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, shared on social media, the aircraft are already in service. “The second batch of F-16s from Denmark has arrived in Ukraine. This is an example of leadership in defending lives that sets Denmark apart,” Zelenskyy wrote.
The first batch of F-16s delivered by Denmark is already operational, contributing to the interception of Russian missiles and safeguarding civilian lives and critical infrastructure.
President Zelenskyy highlighted the importance of these reinforcements for Ukraine’s air defense system and expressed gratitude to Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and the people of Denmark. “If all partners were as determined, Russian terror could already have been made impossible,” he emphasized.
The delivery of F-16s is part of the broader initiative known as the aviation coalition, aimed at bolstering Ukraine’s air combat capabilities. In August 2024, Ukraine received its first batch of these modern jets from Denmark and the Netherlands.
Denmark has committed to providing a total of 19 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. Of these, six were delivered earlier this year, and the remaining 13 are scheduled to arrive in two additional phases, including this latest delivery.
