Ukraine Reportedly Lanches Its Highly Anticipated Flamingo Long-Range Cruise Missile for the First Time, Video

A video circulating on Ukrainian social media channels reportedly shows the launch of Flamingo long-range cruise missiles, developed domestically by the company Fire Point.
The footage, first posted by the monitoring channel “Nikolaevsky Vanek,” does not specify the time or location of the launch.
However, the missiles were reportedly launched toward targets inside Russia, marking what appears to be the first documented combat use of the system.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced earlier in August that Flamingo had successfully completed testing.
He described it as Ukraine’s most effective missile system to date and confirmed that serial production is scheduled to begin in early 2026 following a production ramp-up later this year.
Flamingo is a ground-launched subsonic cruise missile designed for long-range strikes. Reports from Associated Press and Defense Express state that the system has a range of up to 3,000 kilometers and is capable of carrying a warhead weighing more than 1,000 kilograms.
Guidance is provided through satellite navigation with inertial backup, and the system is advertised to have a high level of accuracy.

Analysts note that Flamingo’s specifications would place a wide range of Russian defense and industrial facilities within reach, expanding Ukraine’s strike options beyond earlier domestically produced systems.
At the same time, experts highlight potential challenges: the missile’s large size and subsonic speed may make it vulnerable near dense air defenses, making salvo launches and deep-rear targeting the most effective employment strategy.
Production scale remains a central factor. Fire Point aims to increase output significantly by autumn, though supply chains and funding could affect this timeline. Zelenskyy’s comments suggest the government expects the missile to enter mass production in the first quarter of next year.
Earlier, on August 18, Ukraine had successfully tested the Flamingo missile, which struck its target during trials held several months earlier. The missile carries a 1,150-kilogram warhead and has a range of more than 3,000 kilometers, though officials have not specified when it could be deployed for combat use.
