Ukraine Reports Record Russian Artillery Losses as 2025 Totals Exceed Previous Years

Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense stated that Russian artillery losses in 2025 have already surpassed last year’s totals, even though the year is not yet over, Ministry reported on November 23.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as of November 23 Russia has lost or had disabled 13 053 artillery systems since the start of 2025. That exceeds the 13 050 systems destroyed by Ukrainian forces over the whole of 2024.

Total Russian artillery losses since the full-scale invasion now stand at 34 585 systems. The annual breakdown shows a steep escalation: 2 021 systems destroyed in 2022, 6 461 in 2023, 13 050 in 2024 and already 13 053 so far in 2025, according to Ukraine’s Ministry of Defense.

Previously, it was reported that China has assisted Belarus in setting up production lines capable of manufacturing roughly half a million artillery shell casings per year, destined for Russia, Deutsche Welle reported, citing Matviy Kupreychyk, a representative of BelPol—an opposition-aligned group of former Belarusian law-enforcement personnel.
