Ukraine Responds to Putin's Threats of "Oreshnik" Missile Strike on Kyiv
On November 28, Ukraine's Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded to Putin's threats to target decision-making centers in Kyiv with the "Oreshnik" missile.
“By those statements, Putin again demonstrates that he is the only person who wants this war to continue and to expand this war,” said Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi.
According to him, Ukraine believes such remarks show disrespect to Kazakhstan and other countries, including China, Brazil, and other G20 members, that have been calling for restraint in the war.
“We expect those countries that have urged everyone to avert expanding of the war, to react to the statements raised by Putin today,” he said.
“The timing of these threats is not a coincidence,” said Tykhyi. “The only way to respond to blackmail is to reject it,” he urged.
“Appeasement has never worked. Appeasement has never stopped wars. This is why we need strength and we need peace through strength,” MFA spokesperson concluded.
Previously on November 28, Putin stated that the newly developed Oreshnik missile could be used to strike “decision-making centers in Kyiv.”
