Patriarch Kirill of the Russian Orthodox Church stated that the new Russian missile system "Oreshnik" is a "emergency brake" for the West.

"What does the appearance of this 'Oreshnik' mean? It's an emergency brake! While they (the West) are still trying to figure out what we've already figured out, and doing what we've already done, time will pass."

The Patriarch thanked the developers "who create fantastic weapons that leave Western strategists bewildered and in some kind of nightmare."

Previously, Russian leader Vladimir Putin discussed the capabilities of the Oreshnik missile, which Russia launched on the city of Dnipro in Ukraine last week, stating that mass deployment of such missiles in a single strike would deliver power comparable to a nuclear strike.

Patriarch Kirill stated that Christians should not fear the end of the world, even in the context of nuclear weapons.
