The Ukrainian Navy struck a Russian drone hub at an airfield in occupied Crimea, destroying several unmanned aircraft used to track activity in the Black Sea, the Navy reported on August 22.
The target was the “Khersones” airfield near Sevastopol, where Russian forces had been operating surveillance drones.

Images have been released of the night attack on Khersones airfield in Sevastal, where fires broke out as a result of a UAV attack, according to Dnipro Osint.

“By means and forces of the Ukrainian Navy, a drone base (‘Forpost’ / ‘Mohajer-6’) at the Khersones airfield in the city of Sevastopol, temporarily occupied Crimea, was destroyed. As a result of the strike, up to three Mohajer-6 drones and two Forpost drones were eliminated. These were used by the enemy to monitor surface activity in the Black Sea,” the Navy said in a statement.
The Mohajer-6 is a multi-purpose Iranian drone designed for reconnaissance, surveillance, and strike missions. Capable of carrying up to four precision-guided munitions, it has a maximum flight endurance of 12 hours and a range of 200 km.

Captured Mohajer-6s have been found equipped with Ghaem-5 guided bombs. Other variants can carry rockets and bombs under four hardpoints.
The Forpost, meanwhile, is a Russian-licensed version of Israel’s IAI Searcher Mk II, first acquired by Moscow in 2009. Initially assembled from Israeli components, Russia later localized production at Ural Civil Aviation Plant. The drone can fly for up to 18 hours and cover 250 km, providing both day and night reconnaissance with electro-optical and infrared cameras.

The upgraded Forpost-R, introduced in 2019 with a Russian-made engine, is capable of carrying small munitions such as KAB-20 bombs, though its combat effectiveness is considered limited.
Ukraine has repeatedly targeted Russia’s drone infrastructure in Crimea, seeing these assets as a key part of Moscow’s war machine in the Black Sea.
Earlier, soldiers from the UAV special unit Lasar’s group of Ukraine’s National Guard destroyed a Russian S-300V air defense launcher in the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia region.
