According to the statement released by HUR on January 4 via its official Telegram channel, the explosion resulted in casualties among Russian personnel. The agency did not specify the number of killed or injured troops.
The 47th Missile Brigade, part of Russia’s Southern Military District, has been repeatedly linked to missile strikes on Ukrainian territory. HUR stated that the brigade’s personnel have been directly involved in operations resulting in attacks on civilian areas in Ukraine.
“Soldiers and officers of the 47th Missile Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces are directly involved in missile strikes on the territory of Ukraine and in war crimes against the civilian population,” the agency noted.
In its public statement, HUR added that “for every war crime committed against the Ukrainian people, there will be a just retribution.”

The Kremlin has not commented on the reported explosion in Korenevsk, and Russian state media had not acknowledged the incident as of January 4.
The 47th Missile Brigade is believed to operate Iskander short-range ballistic missile systems, which have been used extensively throughout the full-scale invasion of Ukraine that began in February 2022. The brigade is headquartered in the Southern Military District, a region heavily involved in logistical and fire support operations for Russian forces in Ukraine.
Earlier, on November 19, a joint operation by Ukrainian intelligence and the Resistance Movement targeted Russian troops gathered near a propaganda billboard in temporarily occupied Berdiansk. According to HUR, the explosion killed five Russian National Guard members, wounded four others, and destroyed multiple vehicles, including a “Tigr” armored car.
