Ukraine’s military intelligence said its special operations unit known as the “Prymary” struck multiple Russian air defense assets and other military targets in Russian-occupied Crimea ahead of Christmas.

According to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine (HUR) on December 25, the operation resulted in the destruction of several high-value systems belonging to Russian occupying forces.

The targets hit included a launcher from an S-300V air defense system, an RSP-6M2 radar system, a Redut-221 command-and-staff vehicle from a Buk-M3 air defense system, and a 9S36M fire-control radar, also part of a Buk-M3 system.

“The HUR operatives also struck an enemy protective structure used to shelter weapons and military equipment, around which two Russian occupiers were present,” the statement read.

The Christmas period also saw Ukraine’s air defenses notch another success, this time in the skies.

During a Christmas night air raid, Ukraine’s Defense Forces used a P1-SUN interceptor drone to shoot down a Russian jet-powered Shahed-type attack drone, Militarnyi reported on December 26. The outlet published video footage showing the intercept.

According to Militarnyi, the target was a jet-powered modification of the Shahed, capable of speeds exceeding 500 kilometers per hour, making it significantly faster than standard variants of the drone used by Russia.

The video caption noted that the December 25 interception, described as a unique case, could soon become routine as P1-SUN interceptors are integrated more widely into Ukraine’s air defense system. It added that operational experience so far points to a relatively high success rate for P1-SUN drones against Shahed strike drones and other types of unmanned aerial vehicles.

Earlier, Ukraine’s 40th Separate Coastal Defense Brigade, part of the 30th Marine Corps, conducted a successful attack on a Russian riverboat using an unmanned surface drone.
