Ukrainian P1-SUN Drone Intercepts Russian Jet-Powered Shahed During Christmas Air Raid, Video

Ukraine’s Defense Forces used a P1-SUN interceptor drone to destroy a Russian jet-powered Shahed-type attack drone during a Christmas night air raid, according to Militarnyi on December 26.
The outlet stated that the target was a jet-powered modification of the Shahed, capable of speeds exceeding 500 km/h, significantly faster than the standard strike drones of this type, and published video of the intercept.

The caption to the video says the unique December 25 case may soon become routine as these drones become part of Ukraine’s air defense system.
It adds that the experience gained so far points to a fairly high kill rate by “P1-SUN” interceptors against strike “Shahed” drones and other types of UAVs.
The P1-SUN was developed by the Ukrainian defense technology company SkyFall, which has said the interceptor has a modular design and a 3D-printed airframe.
SkyFall has also said the drone was initially capable of speeds up to 300 km/h, and that developers have since increased that figure by 50%, while the system can climb to an altitude of up to 5 kilometers.
Earlier, it was reported that Ukraine has been operating the Merops counter‑drone system, an advanced interceptor UAV complex used to down more than 1,000 Iranian‑made Shahed drones and strengthen aerial security against Russian UAV strikes.
