Ukraine to Include Syria as a Strategic Partner, Says Zelenskyy
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Syria is joining the ranks of Ukraine’s trusted partners in the new year and received reports from the Ukrainian delegation on their official visit to Damascus, Syria.

At the same time, following a meeting with Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Vitalii Kovalev after their visit to Damascus, Zelenskyy made a statement on his official account on X.
“Ukraine will support all efforts to stabilize Syria. We will set up the ‘Grain from Ukraine’ program to cooperate with the Syrian administration and all interested partners. We will engage with the Europeans and America to ensure maximum support,” Zelenskyy announced.
“More stability in the Middle East means more peace and trade for all partners,” he added.
Previously, on December 30, Sybiha met with Syria’s newly appointed leader, Ahmed al-Sharaa, during his historic visit to Damascus, delivering a personal message from Zelenskyy to the Syrian people.
Earlier on December 27, Heorhii Tykhyi, spokesperson for Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated Ukraine would resume diplomatic relations with Syria if the new government reverses the decision made by Bashar al-Assad’s regime that supported violations of Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
