Ukraine’s Defense Minister to Reportedly Lead Delegation to South Korea for Weapons Aid
A Ukrainian delegation, led by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov, is set to visit South Korea on Wednesday, November 27, to request assistance in providing Ukraine with essential weaponry.
This was reported by the South China Morning Post.
According to the publication’s sources, Kyiv plans to present a list of requests that includes anti-aircraft missiles and artillery systems.
At the beginning of November, South Korea stated that it may reconsider its stance on supplying arms to Ukraine amid growing cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang, President Yoon Suk Yeol stated. Until now, Seoul has limited its support for Ukraine to non-lethal aid.
Previously, on November 5, Umerov confirmed that Ukrainian forces have engaged in combat with North Korean troops for the first time following Pyongyang’s deployment of forces to assist Russia. According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, there are currently 11,000 North Korean soldiers in the Kursk region.
During the UN Security Council High-Level Briefing on November 19, the South Korean Ambassador confirmed that North Korean troops had been deployed to Russia and reported the growing military cooperation between the two countries.
