Ukraine’s First ATACMS Strike Into Russia Hits Military Target in Bryansk Region, Media Reports
Ukraine's Defense Forces have reportedly carried out their first-ever strike on a military target within Russian territory, using US-manufactured ATACMS ballistic missiles, according to sources cited by Censor.Net.
Journalist and chief editor of Censor.Net, Yurii Butusov, shared this information on his Facebook page, citing publication sources.
Earlier today, the Ukrainian Armed Forces, launched a precision strike on the Russian 1046th Material and Technical Support Center near Karachev in Russia’s Bryansk region.
"The start of long-range strikes on Russia won’t lead to an immediate turning point in the war but will inflict significant damage on the rear infrastructure of the Russian army, complicate their maneuverability and logistics in border areas, and force them to stretch their air defense systems even further," Butusov wrote.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine have yet to confirm this statement. If verified, it could be the first recorded instance of Ukraine targeting military sites within Russia since its long push for the right to defend itself against Russian aggression.
US Assistant Secretary of State for Western Hemisphere Affairs Brian A. Nichols officially confirmed that the White House has authorized Ukraine to use long-range weapons for strikes on Russian territory.
