Ukraine’s domestically produced interceptor drone General Chereshnya AIR has emerged as the most effective model in neutralizing Russian drones in October, recording 548 confirmed UAV takedowns, according to its developer, General Chereshnya, part of the NAUDI defense ecosystem.

As reported by Defense Express on November 18, the drone outpaced other models in the Ukrainian arsenal, becoming a key tool in the country’s layered air defense system. While the number may appear modest, analysts emphasize that the figure applies to a single UAV platform amid a wide array of systems used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

The General Chereshnya AIR is engineered to intercept reconnaissance UAVs, directly disrupting Russian intelligence gathering and fire-control coordination. It has also been adapted to engage decoy drones like Herbera, commonly used by Russia to saturate and mislead Ukrainian air defenses.

Specifications of the General Chereshnya AIR include:

  • Range: 22 km;

  • Flight altitude: up to 5 km;

  • Max speed: 200 km/h;

  • Payload: 1.2 kg;

  • Flight time: up to 35 minutes;

  • Sensors: Digital comms, daytime or thermal camera with 1.5 km target detection range.

The developer has also recently launched serial production of a second model, Bullet, designed specifically to intercept Shahed drones, boasting speeds up to 309 km/h.

As Ukraine continues to face drone-based warfare, tools like General Chereshnya AIR provide a cost-effective and agile solution for frontline defense.

Earlier, it was reported that Ukrainian drone manufacturer SkyFall has unveiled its P1-SUN interceptor drone to an international audience at the Dubai Airshow 2025 in the United Arab Emirates, marking the first time the system has been publicly displayed outside Ukraine.
