According to Militarnyi, for the strike, a GBU-62 bomb equipped with a JDAM-ER kit was used, which has also been adapted for Soviet MiG-29 fighter jets in Ukraine.
The GBU-62 is a 500-pound bomb based on the standard Mk-82, upgraded with a JDAM GPS/INS guidance system and an ER glide module to increase its range.
With the ER module, the bomb glides after release, following a flatter trajectory rather than a steep drop. This enables strikes from a safer distance, especially when the target area is heavily protected or the aircraft cannot approach closely, as reported by Militarnyi.
The command post was located in a building next to a railway line. The strike was guided by an intelligence drone that operated freely over Vovchansk.
A day earlier, on December 2, the Azov 1st Corps of the National Guard reported that its combat drone operators successfully halted and destroyed a Russian MTU-72 armored bridgelayer in Donetsk. This vehicle is a crucial engineering asset used to transport heavy vehicles across rivers, anti-tank trenches, and other barriers.
The unit highlighted that the strike was executed by its unmanned systems battalion, which has become an essential element of Ukraine's frontline defense.
Previously, Ukrainian defense technology firm General Chereshnya introduced an enhanced version of its AIR Pro interceptor drone, specifically engineered to target and destroy Russian reconnaissance and strike unmanned aerial vehicles.
