Ukrainian and German Defense Ministers to Discuss Strengthening Ukrainian Air Defense in Berlin

On September 4, a meeting is scheduled in Berlin between the defense ministers of Ukraine and Germany, Rustem Umierov and Boris Pistorius, reported German Ministry of Defense.

"German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius will host his Ukrainian counterpart Rustem Umierov for a visit to the ministry in Berlin," the press service stated.

Topics for discussion will include the situation in Ukraine, German-Ukrainian cooperation in security and defense, and the strengthening of Ukrainian air defense.

The ministry added that Pistorius plans to welcome Umierov with military honors, and both ministers will lay flowers at the Bundeswehr memorial.

Russia has intensified attacks on Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure in recent weeks. On September 3, Russia’s missile strike on a Poltava educational institution has resulted in at least 53 deaths and 298 injuries, with ongoing rescue efforts still underway. Overnight on September 4, Russia’s missile strike on Lviv has resulted in at least 7 deaths and 47 injuries, including 3 children, and a strike on Kryvyi Rih injured 5 people, destroying 4 schools and a hotel.
