Ukrainian Authorities Sentence Woman Caught Mapping Military Sites With Her Child

A Russian agent has been sentenced to 15 years in prison. While walking with her six-year-old son, she photographed military facilities in Odesa and marked their coordinates on Google Maps, according to Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) on August 1.
“Based on evidence from the military counterintelligence and investigators of the Security Service, another Russian agent has been sentenced to 15 years in prison with property confiscation. Acting on behalf of the FSB , she collected coordinates for large-scale missile and drone strikes on Odesa,” the statement reads.
The woman, a 39-year-old unemployed resident of Odesa, was recruited by Russian intelligence to help coordinate airstrikes targeting Ukraine’s Defense Forces. According to the investigation, her primary targets included bases of Ukraine’s Marine Corps, border guard units, and military enlistment offices.

She reportedly supported the Russian occupation of Odesa and shared her views on pro-Russian Telegram channels. Under the guise of walking with her six-year-old son, the agent photographed military facilities and marked their coordinates on Google Maps using her mobile phone, SBU reported.
In exchange for her cooperation, she received “guarantees” from her handler promising assistance with escape routes to Russia via third countries.
However, SBU operatives exposed the scheme and detained the woman before any attacks could be executed. During the search, authorities seized her phone and tablet used to communicate with the enemy.
A Ukrainian court found her guilty under Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code—high treason committed under martial law.
Earlier, Ukraine’s Security Service foiled a covert operation by Belarusian intelligence targeting the collection of sensitive military information near the country’s northern border.
