Ukrainian Border Guard Service Destroys Russian TOS-1A “Solntsepyok” in Belgorod Region, Video

The Ukrainian border guards destroyed a Russian TOС-1A Solntsepyok heavy flamethrower system on Russian soil near Voznesenivka, as reported by Militarnyi on May 22.

The TOС-1A Solntsepyok boasts 24 thermobaric rocket tubes mounted on a T-72 chassis, capable of delivering devastating area effects up to 10 km, although its effective combat range is typically limited to 6 km.

Border guards identified the unit via drone reconnaissance and engaged it with precision UAS  strikes, neutralizing both the launcher and its ammunition without Ukrainian casualties.

Analysts note that eliminating a Solntsepyok “not only degrades Russian incendiary capabilities but also underscores Ukraine’s advancing drone warfare and reconnaissance integration.”

Earlier, it was reported that anti-aircraft gunners of the 45th Artillery Brigade, alongside the 63rd Brigade, shot down the $300,000 Merlin-VR reconnaissance UAV in the Lyman direction of Donetsk region. The 63rd Brigade’s drone captured rare footage of the event.
