Ukrainian Drones Strike Russian Oil Refinery, Triggering Power Cuts and Train Delays in Voronezh

Ukrainian drones launched fresh attacks on Russian regions, causing significant damage. In the Rostov region, Russian air defense forces were reported combating drone strikes in Kamensk, Donetsk, and Novoshakhtinsk, as well as in several other areas, according to The Moscow Times report on August 21.
The head of the region, Yuri Slyusar, reported that a fire broke out at one of the industrial facilities in Novoshakhtinsk, but no casualties were reported.
According to Astra news outlet, the attack targeted the Novoshakhtinsk Oil Refinery, which processes 5.6 million tons of oil annually, representing about 1.7% of Russia’s total refining capacity. This was the fifth drone strike on the facility since the war in Ukraine began, with the first attack occurring in June 2022.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian drones also targeted the Voronezh region during the same night. Residents of the village of Zhuravka reported hearing at least five explosions in the sky, followed by a fire on the ground.
Local governor Alexander Gusev stated that there were no casualties, but the drone wreckage caused damage to energy infrastructure, leaving several villages without electricity and delaying several passenger trains.

Previously, it was reported that Ukrainian Special Operations Forces have released exclusive footage showing a strike on Russian Lieutenant General Esedulla Abachev in Russia’s Kursk region.
