The Embassy of Ukraine in Slovakia has expressed regret over recent anti-Ukrainian remarks made by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico.
The statement was published on the official Facebook page of Ukraine’s diplomatic mission in Slovakia after the joint press conference with Volodymyr Zelenskyy, on May 3.
The Embassy responded firmly, calling Fico’s remarks “anti-Ukrainian.” The embassy emphasized that Zelenskyy’s comments were misrepresented and urged Slovak officials to interpret them in full context.
“President Zelenskyy never issued threats,” the embassy stated. “He simply underscored that provocations by Russia on May 9 are possible, and that Ukraine cannot be held responsible for incidents beyond its borders.”

Ukrainian diplomats also addressed Russia’s plans for a military parade on Red Square.
“The soldiers set to march have no connection to the defeat of Nazism,” the statement read. “Some of them are likely complicit in war crimes committed during Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine. Whether such a parade is worthy of applause or attendance is, at best, a rhetorical question.”
Also, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico publicly condemned Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy following a security advisory issued by Kyiv ahead of Russia’s May 9 Victory Day celebrations in Moscow, during the press conference.
Fico claimed the advisory amounted to a threat, accusing the Ukrainian president of trying to intimidate foreign leaders. “President Zelenskyy is threatening heads of state and prime ministers from countries where millions of people live,” Prime Minister stated, asserting that security at the event is Russia’s internal matter.
“If Mr. Zelenskyy believes his outbursts will deter delegations, he is mistaken. I must voice my disapproval of such rhetoric.”
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine cannot guarantee the safety of foreign representatives planning to attend the May 9 Victory Day parade in Moscow, underscoring that security on Russian territory is the sole responsibility of Russian authorities.
