The 2S7 Pion, a heavy self-propelled artillery system, was struck by a fiber-optic guided drone operated by the 1st Mechanized Battalion of the 44th Separate Mechanized Brigade.

According to the video, Russian forces had hidden the artillery piece deep in the rear, placing it inside a former industrial building in an attempt to protect it from Ukrainian surveillance and strikes.

The drone operator managed to guide the drone through an opening in the structure before hitting the artillery system inside the building.

Another Russian self-propelled howitzer, the 2S19 Msta-S, was also destroyed using a Ukrainian fiber-optic drone, volunteer Serhii Sternenko reported.

“One of the units encountered a rare beast these days—a Msta-S self-propelled howitzer. Of course, it was destroyed by your fiber-optic drones,” the message said.

The 2S7 Pion is capable of firing 203 mm shells at ranges between 37 and 47 kilometers, making it one of Russia’s longest-range artillery systems. The 2S19 Msta-S, meanwhile, can strike targets at distances of approximately 24 to 29 kilometers.

Earlier, operators from the 413th Brigade of the Unmanned Systems Forces destroyed a Russian BM-21 Grad multiple rocket launcher system on the Zaporizhzhia front. The operation required two drone strikes to successfully neutralize the vehicle.
