Ukrainian Flag Raised at Consulate in Syria’s Capital

The Ukrainian flag was raised over the Honorary Consulate in Damascus during a formal ceremony attended by Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Andrii Sybiha, and Honorary Consul General in Syria, Tamer Altounsi on December 30.

Minister Sybiha expressed his gratitude to the Consul General and the Ukrainian community in Syria for their dedication to preserving Ukrainian language and culture.

Today, I had the honor of raising the Ukrainian flag over our Honorary Consulate in Damascus.

Alongside Honorary Consul General Tamer Altounsi and members of our community. I thanked them for preserving the Ukrainian language and culture.

"Today, I had the honor of raising the Ukrainian flag over our Honorary Consulate in Damascus," Sybiha tweeted, expressing his appreciation for the efforts of Honorary Consul General Tamer Altounsi and the local Ukrainian community in Syria.

Earlier, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha met with Syria's newly appointed leader, Ahmed al-Sharaa, on December 30 during his historic visit to Damascus, delivering a personal message from Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the Syrian people.
