Operators from Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service and the Armed Forces of Ukraine have destroyed a Russian electronic warfare system on the Pivdenno-Slobozhanskyi axis, the Border Guard Service reported on January 28.

According to the statement, drone operators from the STRIX unmanned aerial systems unit of the 4th Border Detachment worked jointly with the STAR unmanned systems battalion of the 22nd Separate Mechanized Brigade.

Acting as part of Ukraine’s Defense Forces, the units continue to systematically degrade Russian combat capabilities in the area.

After the target was precisely identified through aerial reconnaissance, FPV drone operators carried out accurate strikes on the Russian Tirada-2 electronic warfare system, which is designed to disable satellite communications.

“As a result, the enemy asset was destroyed,” the Border Guard Service said.

Ukrainian forces also carried out a strike against a Russian air defense system in temporarily occupied Crimea overnight on January 27, continuing efforts to weaken Russia’s ability to conduct offensive operations.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the target was a Tor-M2 short-range surface-to-air missile system deployed near the settlement of Kacha. The system was being used to shield Russian military infrastructure and troop concentrations, as well as to counter Ukrainian aerial assets operating in the area.

The Tor-M2 is a modern element of Russia’s layered air defense network, particularly in occupied territories, and is estimated to cost around $25 million per unit.

Earlier, a UAV operated by Ukraine’s 413th “Raid” Brigade of the Unmanned Systems Forces struck a Russian R-330Zh Zhitel electronic warfare system, damaging its antennas and putting the complex out of action.
