Ukrainian Forces Repel Russian Infantry Assault in Zaporizhzhia
Ukrainian forces successfully repelled a Russian offensive attempt in the Zaporizhzhia sector, General Oleksandr Pivnenko, commander of Ukraine's National Guard, confirmed on November 27.
“The occupiers attempted to advance with an infantry group on the National Guard positions, but their actions were detected in advance by the ‘Spartan’ aerial reconnaissance,” Pivnenko wrote.
While the commander did not disclose the scale of the attack or the number of Russian troops involved, he noted that Russia primarily conducts assaults and reconnaissance operations in the region using small infantry groups, typically consisting of 3 to 10 soldiers.
“The enemy rarely employs heavy equipment,” Pivnenko said. “However, our forces quickly and accurately neutralize enemy personnel and firepower.”
It was previously reported that the Russian army is positioning trained assault groups along frontline areas in the Zaporizhzhia region, according to Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesperson for Ukraine's Southern Command, on November 12.
Voloshyn stated that in the Orikhiv direction, the Russian army is conducting engineering and aerial reconnaissance, as well as preparing assault groups.
